Agreement to Our Legal Terms
These terms and conditions apply to the SnapLingo mobile application ("Application") developed by Nirmal Jeffrey Bernard Wilson ("Service Provider") as a Freemium service.
By downloading or using the Application, you automatically agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before using the Application.
Intellectual property
Unauthorized copying, modification of the Application, any part of it, or the Service Provider's trademarks is strictly prohibited. Attempts to extract the source code, translate the Application into other languages, or create derivative versions are not permitted. All trademarks, copyrights, database rights, and other intellectual property rights related to the Application remain the property of the Service Provider.
Service modifications and pricing
The Service Provider is committed to making the Application as useful and efficient as possible and reserves the right to modify the Application or charge for services at any time and for any reason. Any charges will be clearly communicated to you before they are applied.
Free tier and quota
SnapLingo can be used for free with a limited lifetime number of snaps. Once you reach this limit, you will need to subscribe to keep snapping and learning new objects; words and objects you have already learned remain accessible.
Subscriptions
SnapLingo offers an auto-renewing premium subscription that unlocks a higher (or unlimited) snap quota beyond the free tier. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, which receives your purchase tokens and an app user identifier to keep your subscription state in sync across devices.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal at the same price within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Manage / cancel. Subscriptions can be managed and auto-renewal turned off in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings after purchase. Deleting the Application does not cancel an active subscription.
- Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google per their respective store policies. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support to request a refund.
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered, you will not be charged during the trial period. The trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Price changes. The Service Provider may change subscription prices. You will be notified at least 30 days in advance via the Application or email (where available). Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.
AI-generated content
SnapLingo uses AI to identify the objects in photos you snap and to generate the corresponding word, translations, definitions, and example sentences. AI-generated content is a learning aid, not a certified or professional translation. It may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies, and should not be relied on as a substitute for professional language instruction or for any professional, legal, medical, or safety-critical purpose. The Service Provider does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-identified objects or AI-generated translations, definitions, or example sentences.
You retain all rights to the photos you snap. Your photos are processed for recognition and remain stored only on your device — the Service Provider does not claim ownership of them and does not store them on its servers.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use SnapLingo to:
- Submit photos containing illegal, harmful, or exploitative content for recognition;
- Attempt to circumvent, automate, or abuse the free-tier snap quota or rate limits;
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the AI provider's models, our backend, or any non-public component of the Application.
Content moderation. To enforce these rules, photos you submit for recognition are processed through the content-safety and usage-policy systems of our AI provider (OpenAI). The Service Provider may automatically filter, refuse to process, block, or remove content that violates these rules or the provider's usage policies.
Violations may result in immediate account termination and may be reported to authorities where required by law.
Personal data and security
The Application stores and processes personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility to maintain the security of your phone and access to the Application. The Service Provider strongly advises against jailbreaking or rooting your phone, as such actions could expose your phone to malware and may result in the Application not functioning correctly.
Third-party services
The Application and website use third-party services with their own terms and conditions. By using the Application, you also agree to those terms:
- Google Play Services
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
- RevenueCat
- OpenAI Usage Policies
- Loops.so — waitlist email delivery (website only)
- Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise — bot protection on the waitlist form (website only)
Connectivity and device responsibility
Some functions of the Application require an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or your mobile network provider). The Service Provider cannot be held responsible if the Application does not function at full capacity due to lack of access to Wi-Fi or if you have exhausted your data allowance.
If you use the Application outside a Wi-Fi area, your mobile network provider's terms still apply. You may incur charges from your mobile provider for data usage during use, including roaming charges if you use the Application outside your home territory.
The Service Provider cannot assume responsibility for your usage of the Application — for example, ensuring your device remains charged, or that you have access to suitable lighting for camera-based features.
Limitation of liability
While the Service Provider strives to keep the Application updated and accurate, it relies on third parties (its AI provider, cloud infrastructure, and store payment processing) to deliver functionality. The Service Provider accepts no liability for any loss, direct or indirect, that you experience as a result of relying on the Application or its outputs. AI-generated content is provided "as-is" without warranty of any kind. The Service Provider is not liable for any decisions you make based on AI-identified objects, translations, definitions, or example sentences.
Updates and termination
The Service Provider may update the Application from time to time. Operating system requirements may change, and you will need to download updates to continue using the Application. The Service Provider does not guarantee that updates will always be released or remain compatible with your specific OS version. You agree to accept updates when offered.
The Service Provider may also cease providing the Application or terminate its use at any time without notice. Upon termination: (a) the rights and licenses granted to you in these terms end; (b) you must cease using the Application and delete it from your device.
Changes to these Terms
The Service Provider may periodically update these Terms and Conditions. You are advised to review this page regularly for any changes. The Service Provider will notify you of changes by posting the new Terms and Conditions on this page.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protection rights of your country of residence are unaffected.
